Reusing candle jars is a great way to reduce waste and get creative. Follow these simple steps to clean out your old candle jars and repurpose them for new uses.
Step 1:
Soften the Wax
To start, pour hot (but not boiling) water into the candle jar. The heat from the water will soften the remaining wax (allow approx. 45 mins) making it easier to remove.
Step 2:
Remove the Wax
Wait until the wax has melted completely.
Once it’s melted, carefully dispose of the wax -be cautious to avoid spills.
Step 3:
Clean the Jar
After disposing of the melted wax, wipe the jar clean. Use a cloth or paper towel to remove any remaining wax residue.
Make sure the jar is completely clean and dry before proceeding to the next step.
Step 4:
Remove the Wick Base
To remove the base of the wicks, use a wick dipper tool or any other prying tool.
Gently pry the wick base from the bottom of the jar. If it’s stubborn, you might need to use a bit of force, but be careful not to break the jar.
Creative Uses
Now that your jar is clean, you can use it for various purposes. These jars make excellent containers for crystals, jewelry, or as a stylish home decor.
